Cancelling the Vodafone internet contract signed in Portugal

Upon returning to Japan permanently, I decided to cancel my internet contract with Vodafone.

First, I rummaged through the official paperwork and found the page detailing the cancellation procedure.

It seems I just need to fill in the cancellation form, attach my ID, and send it by email.
However, after looking into it, I couldn’t figure out exactly what parts of the cancellation form to complete, so I ended up going to the shop directly.

When I told them I wanted to cancel at the shop, they asked for the following:
・My current customer ID
・My passport
・The reason for cancellation

Vodafone typically has two-year contracts, and their terms state that cancelling outside the renewal month incurs a penalty fee.
They said, ‘Returning to Japan might be considered unavoidable, so the penalty might be waived,’ and then asked, ‘Do you have the title deed or contract documents for the house you’ll be living in Japan?’ Of course, I didn’t have those at the time… After discussing various things, they finally agreed to accept my return flight ticket, sent by email, as proof.

Once that was settled, they handled everything from preparing the paperwork to submitting the cancellation request!!
All I had to do was sign.

They said I could either have the router delivered or bring it directly to the shop.

Portugal really has a lot of kind people.
