Ponto Final: A restaurant offering spectacular views of the Tagus River and Lisbon

I visited Ponto Final, which stands tall beside the Tagus River.

First, I took a bus from Lisbon to the Cristo Rei statue (Santuário de Cristo Rei). It’s a 15-minute bus ride. It’s located near the Tagus River.

Spectacular views from the Cristo Rei statue (Santuário de Cristo Rei) to the 25th of April Bridge (Ponte 25 de Abril)

Take the Carris bus and alight at the nearest stop, “Portagem (Cristo-Rei)”. It’s about a ten-minute walk from there.

It’s enormous up close. I’d always seen it glowing from Lisbon, but its sheer height is astonishing.

Tickets purchased at the stall near the entrance grant access to the very top.
It’s surprisingly busy, so I’d recommend it if you have time.

Walk to the inner garden, where a spectacular view awaits. A prime photo spot.

Ponto Final Restaurant with Spectacular Views

Buses depart from the Cristo Rei statue (Santuário de Cristo Rei), taking approximately ten minutes.
From the nearest station, it’s a further walk. At this point, you descend to the coastline, so don’t miss the spectacular views from the elevated vantage point.

Continuing along the narrow lane, we arrived at the shop.
It was 1pm on Saturday, and upon arrival it was absolutely packed. Watching the people arriving later, perhaps around 2pm would have been a more sensible time to visit.

When I told the waiter we didn’t have a reservation, he wrote our names on the list and said he’d call us when a table became available.
We decided to wait nearby.

Oh… what a spot! A seat that makes you think dining here while gazing across at the 28th of April Bridge and Lisbon would be absolutely splendid.

After waiting an hour, they showed us to our seats. You can get in without a reservation.

They seated us in a rather splendid spot with this magnificent view. Though it’s rather scary being so close to the cliff edge.
They’ll lend you blankets when it’s cold.

The dishes served are Portuguese cuisine.
I had pork rice. The slight tanginess gives it that authentic Portuguese flavour. The taste is superb.

When visiting Lisbon, do make sure to experience the city as seen from the opposite bank.

The location is here.
