I made pastel de nata.

When you enter a café in Lisbon, you will always find a pastel de nata ( pastel de nata ).
This is a typical Portuguese sweet.

I wanted to be able to make it because I live in Portugal! So I tried to make it without any preliminary research.
It’s my first time making it, so it’s not much help, but I hope you’ll read it warmly… I hope you will read this warmly.

Ingredients are here + dough.

First, roughly put the sugar and eggs in a bowl. Then stir. Someone told me that it is inherently tastier to put only the egg yolks in.

Give it a good stir and then add the flour. Throw in.

When mixed, heat the milk separately. Then throw it in.
Now mix until sticky and the cream is ready.

Dough for the cream, from ping doce. I’ve never made dough before.

Roll the dough out like a vessel before filling it with cream.
You’ll love it when it gets to this point.

Baked.

Baked like chestnut dumplings, sticking close together. Smells Good!

My wife said it was delicious.
She told the bakery’s uncle: “I made pastel denata! Look at it!” He praised me.
That alone made it worthwhile.

Next time, I’ll have to make the dough from scratch and bake it in a proper case.

By the way, this is the kind of nata I really wanted to make.
The outside dough is crispy and I think it’s buttered. It’s fragrant.

I bought a cooking book at a bookshop in Lisbon, so I’ll have a proper look and learn!
