How to dispose of waste in Portugal

It’s been a few days since I moved here. How do I dispose of the rubbish I generate on a daily basis?
Does every house have its own rubbish dump? Some houses have a garbage dump on the ground floor and some don’t. (The majority of the houses don’t have a garbage dump. (The majority of houses do not have them.)

There are not as many bins on the roadside as in Germany or the Czech Republic. I looked into it and wondered what was going on.

Where should I dump it?

I asked my landlord, ‘Where do I dump it?’ He told me that it was OK if I sorted and dumped them in the nearest container.
Indeed, there is a container in a certain area of the residential area. I was told that I could throw them in there any time.

Containers are collected separately according to their colour.

Cores dos contentores de reciclagem:(Colour of recycling containers).

VERDE (緑色) / Vidro (glass)Bottles, jars and glass containers. Coloured glass is included, but not ceramic or heat-resistant glass.
AZUL (青色) / Papel e Cartão (Paper and cardboard)Only clean items such as newspapers, magazines, cardboard and paper bags are accepted. This is because materials contained in soiled paper, such as used tissues, do not facilitate recycling. However, pizza boxes and other items are usually thrown away.
AMARELO (yellow)Plastic bottles, containers, packaging materials and metal cans. Lightly wash any food-contaminated items.
LIXO (grey) / (general waste)Food waste and waste not falling into the above categories.

If you want to throw away furniture, batteries, etc., you need to contact the local authority for collection or deliver them to the nearest recycling centre.
