[Lisbon] 6 panoramic viewpoints with spectacular views to visit in Portugal.

The city of Lisbon, known as the “city of seven hills”, has many large undulating hills.
There are many viewing spots from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful cityscape created by this topography.
Here are some of the spots you should definitely visit when you are in the city on a trip.

Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara

Just a short walk up the hill at Bica, there is a superb vantage point from which to get a close-up view of the Castle of Saint Jorge and the old town. This spot is unique in that you can see a wide view of the orange houses from the viewing platform. Especially at sunset, the golden glow of the city in the western sun makes it even more beautiful.

Jardim da Graça

Located to the north of São Jorge Castle, it has the best expanse of views in Lisbon, from the city centre all the way to the Tagus River!

Located near the historic Graça neighbourhood and the church of the same name, this lookout offers spectacular views of São Jorge Castle, the Mouraria neighbourhood, the historic centre and the Tagus River. Its quiet, bohemian atmosphere is popular with locals and tourists alike, with lush green spaces and cafés with terraces.

It is golden in the morning and a stunning scene at dusk.

Personal No 1 spot.

Miradouro de Santa Luzia

One of Lisbon’s most beautiful and attractive lookouts.
Not far from the Portas do Sol Lookout (Miradouro das Portas do Sol), this lookout offers a more romantic atmosphere thanks to its Alfama views, tranquil gardens and traditional tiles depicting historical scenes from the city.

With its purple bougainvillea and shaded benches, this lookout is the perfect place to relax and meditate while watching the boats cross the Tagus River.

In the summer, when daytime visitors are more frequent, my personal recommendation is first thing in the morning when the sun is up.

Miradouro das Portas do Sol

This is a great spot to watch the sunrise and sunset and a breathtaking natural spectacle.

The pastel-coloured houses contrast beautifully with the bright blue Tagus River. The popular No. 28 tram stop is an easy stop along the way.
There is also a café on a hill nearby where you can enjoy the view and admire the scenery.

Jardim do Alto de Santa Catarina

The Tejo River, 25 April Bridge and most of Cristo Rey are clearly visible. Sunset time is also recommended, when the sun sets across the river.
This lookout is known for its relaxed atmosphere. It is a good place to spend time when you want to relax, as there are relatively few tourists.

Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

Climbing to this lookout, you can leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and a wonderful panoramic view over the entire city, São Jorge Castle, the Tagus River and even the 25 April Bridge.
This is the highest elevation in Lisbon, where nearby residents and tourists alike flock to this spot for a particularly spectacular sunset.
