Transferring a domain from Onamae.com to another registrar

We decided to transfer the domain of the website created by Pro Bono to the company in charge.
There were some issues with transferring the domain, so we sorted them out in the case of Onamae.com.

Pre-check for AuthCode provision from Onamae.com

AuthCode is an authentication code required when transferring a domain to another registrar (management company).
Basically, only the AuthCode needs to be provided, but there are three points to note at this stage.

Has it been more than 60 days since the domain was registered or transferred?

Please note that according to ICANN rules, domains that have been newly registered or transferred within the last 60 days cannot be transferred.

Is the transfer lock disabled?

Transfer lock is a service that prevents domains managed by Onamae.com from being transferred to another management company unintentionally by setting a transfer lock.

Go to the management page and check the target domain.

If the status is ‘OFF’, it has been cancelled.

Has the Whois information disclosure proxy been cancelled?

Domain registration information is required to be publicly disclosed on the Internet via Whois in accordance with ICANN policies. At O-name.com, we offer a Whois information disclosure proxy service as a privacy protection service.

If this setting is enabled, the transfer approval email will not be received, and the procedure will be halted. It is necessary to temporarily ‘disable’ this setting until the transfer is complete.
However, disabling this setting will temporarily make the registrant information (name, address, email address, etc.) publicly available worldwide. We recommend that you promptly re-enable this setting after the transfer is complete.

First, navigate to the Whois Information Disclosure Proxy Settings page.https://navi.onamae.com/domain/setting/whoisprotect/list?btn_id=newnavi_domain_setting_new_04_whoisproxy

If the setting status is ‘Not set,’ it is OK.

If ‘Whois Public Proxy’ is selected, follow the instructions for cancelling the Whois information proxy to cancel it.

Provide AuthCode.

When transferring from Onamae.com to another registrar or designated operator, we will provide you with an AuthCode.

Go to the domain list page and select the target domain.

Settings for the other registrar to which the transfer will be made

Apply for domain transfer on the management screen of the transfer destination (e.g., Xserver, Sakura Internet, etc.).
When doing so, enter the domain name and AuthCode you obtained earlier.

Confirmation and approval of transfer approval email

After completing the procedure, you will receive an email with the subject line ‘Notice Regarding Transfer Application’ sent to the email address registered in the Whois information.
Click on the URL in the email and approve the transfer.

This email may end up in your spam folder, so be sure to check it. The transfer will not proceed unless you approve it here.

Waiting for transfer completion

After approval, domain transfer is usually completed within 5 days to a week.
Once completed, you will receive a notification from the transfer registrar.

Work after transfer completion

Once the transfer is complete, configure the name server settings at the transfer destination to ensure that your website and email are displayed correctly.
If necessary, reconfigure the Whois information disclosure proxy at the transfer destination.
