Last time, we introduced six panoramic observation decks with spectacular views that are worth visiting in Lisbon.

However, there are also hidden spots that are not frequented by tourists. These are places you should visit when you have a little extra time during your trip and want to take a detour to experience the slow pace of life in Portugal.
This time, we will introduce some of Lisbon’s hidden panoramic views.
Take a little detour and make some wonderful memories.
Miradouro do Recolhimento
To view the Alfama district from São Jorge Castle, you need to pass through the castle walls and enter the Miradouro do Recolhimento.
There you will find a comfortable space where you can relax and enjoy the perfect location to view iconic buildings such as the São Vicente de Fora Monastery and Santa Engrácia Church from various angles.
The Miradouro do Recolhimento is a hidden gem of a viewpoint located in the Alfama district of Lisbon, Portugal. Situated near São Jorge Castle, it offers a peaceful setting to enjoy the red-roofed streets of Alfama and the beautiful views of the Tagus River.
If you’re visiting São Jorge Castle, this is a spot you’ll want to include in your itinerary.

Miradouro de Santo Estêvão
If you plan to visit the Santa Luzia Viewpoint (Miradouro de Santa Luzia) and the Portas do Sol Viewpoint (Miradouro das Portas do Sol), don’t miss the Santo Estêvão Viewpoint (Miradouro de Santo Estêvão), located just 1 km away.
From here, you can see the river, but on the opposite side, you can enjoy views of Alfama and discover charming street corners.
This balcony, which overlooks Lisbon’s oldest and most beautiful district, is actually the cemetery of the Church of Santo Estêvão.
This viewpoint is located in Lisbon’s historic Alfama district. It is not as well known as the famous Miradouro de Santa Luzia and Miradouro das Portas do Sol, so it is relatively quiet and peaceful, making it a hidden gem.
There are also small chairs nearby, making it a secret spot to escape the hustle and bustle.

Miradouro da Rocha Conde de Óbidos
The Miradouro da Rocha Conde de Óbidos is undoubtedly a wonderful viewpoint overlooking the Tagus River.
This viewpoint is highly recommended for those who want to enjoy a modern and open view of Lisbon, which is different from the historical scenery of Alfama. Located along the river, this viewpoint terrace is attached to the beautiful gardens of the National Museum of Ancient Art (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga), one of Lisbon’s most representative museums. This location, slightly removed from the bustling tourist centre, is truly a hidden gem for adults.

Miradouro do Largo das Necessidades
This observation deck is located in the Olavo Bilac Garden and is a quiet and comfortable place overlooking Alcântara.
It is the perfect observation deck for viewing the south bank and the 25 de Abril Bridge.
There are four Baroque sculptures of gargoyles and dolphins around the lake, which are great photo spots.
The name of this observation deck derives from the magnificent Palácio das Necessidades (Palace of Necessities) located right next to it. This palace is currently used as the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a leisurely time, this is an ideal hidden gem.

Cemitério dos Prazeres
Located at the terminus of the popular Tram 28 in western Lisbon, this is one of the most beautiful and magnificent cemeteries in Portugal. Although ‘Prazeres’ means ‘joy,’ this place is filled with tranquillity and artistry.
The charm of the observation deck, which can be seen as you walk along the path and further into the cemetery, is endless.
Be sure to visit this open-air museum and enjoy the spectacular view of the western part of the city.
As it is both the terminus and starting point of Tram 28, you can also enjoy the tram ride on your way back.
