I discovered that the hairdresser who always cuts my hair is actually from Lisbon.
I asked her if she had any recommendations for the best traditional food in Lisbon. He told me about Taberna Sal Grosso Alfama. He pushed me so hard that I couldn’t go wrong anymore.
And I went there too.
Bottom line, if you come to Lisbon, this is a must-visit restaurant.
It has become one of the best restaurants I have visited in Portugal.
Taberna Sal Grosso Alfama
Traditional Portuguese food is served here. Bacalhau, prawns and other seafood dishes are served in abundance.

Reservations required!
Might it be empty during the day on weekdays? Maybe, but on weekends the restaurant is so popular that all the seats are filled. Reservations are recommended if you know you’re going.
You can make reservations here.

We were looking for a weekday the following week, but luckily only from 15:30 was available, so we booked there.
When we got there at the reserved time, there was a crowd in front of the restaurant.
Tell the waiter that you have a reservation and wait outside until you are called.

The restaurant is a cozy space. You are close to your neighbours and the sizzling, delicious sounds and aromas come directly from the kitchen. Hungry.
The staff, both sisters and cooks, are jovial and friendly, even though they are busy.
When I said, ‘I live in Lisbon’, they said, ‘Well, you need to learn Portuguese’, and a small Portuguese class started lol.
And the food is served quickly.
Portuguese cuisine upholding tradition
The restaurant is styled like “Petiscos” – Portuguese small plates. Everything looks delicious and I can’t stop getting excited as I look at the menu.

We ordered the “Beef TarTar”.
Probably with mustard, olive oil, nuts, vinegar, leeks, vinegar, lemon, etc. If you come to [Taberna Sal Grosso Alfama], you must have it. Really delicious…
As I was eating it, I noticed that there were nuts in it. Nuts in this? But it’s a natural mixture and it gives you a great taste.

We also ordered Garlic Prawns and Baby Fried Squid. All were satisfying! Making the most of the ingredients is what Portuguese cuisine is all about.
場所
It is located in the Alfama area.
