One month after moving to Portugal. Some MTGs have come in.
However, Japan time. Lisbon time zone and -9 hours, so it was a hassle to think about it and enter it into the calendar.
I was looking for a good way to do this and found it on the official Apple website. Please refer to it.
Here, we describe how to use the Mac, iPhone Viewer Calendar, which automatically changes to Portuguese time when you enter Japan time.
Manage time zones by country in the standard Mac calendar.
The standard Mac calendar has the setting to manage time zones by country switched off by default. Not many people work across countries to begin with.
Normally, the screen looks like this. There is no place to enter time zones by country.
Follow the steps below to change the settings.
- Select Calendar > Settings and then click on Details.
- Check ‘Enable time zone support’.
When you now register a new calendar, you will be able to select a ‘time zone’!
If you change the time zone to ‘Japan Standard Time’ and change the date and time, it will automatically convert to Mac standard time (in my case Portugal time) and register.
If you do not have ‘Japan Standard Time’ in your time zone, select ‘Other’ and enter ‘Tokyo - Japan’ in the city name to select it.
When you recheck your schedule, it will be registered in JST, so you can check it and avoid mistakes.

Manage time zones by country in the iPhone’s standard calendar.
If the Apple IDs of the Mac and iPhone are synchronised, this setting may not be necessary as the information entered on the Mac will be reflected.
This setting is for those who want to enter time zones by country also from their iPhone while on the move, for example.
- Select Settings > Apps > Calendar.
- Tap Specify a time zone, then tap Specify a time zone to turn it off.
This allows you to select more ‘time zones’ to choose from when you select a date and time in the calendar. It’s also good that the default is the iPhone region, so daily scheduling can be done as it is!
