Portugal has medium and long distance and international trains operated by the Portuguese Railways (Comboios de Portugal).
Among them, there is a train called Comboios Urbanos de Lisboa (Lisbon Suburban Railway), and to go from Lisbon to Cascais, you can take a train (COMBOIOS URBANOS) from Cais do Sodré, which will take you to Cascais.
Incidentally, there are four Lisbon suburban railways.
- Linha de Sintra
- Linha de Azambuja
- Linha de Cascais
- Linha do Sado
The official website is easy to find. There is also a map so you can check if you can get to where you want to go.
All seats are unreserved.
All Lisbon suburban trains (Comboios Urbanos de Lisboa) are free seating with no reservation required. You can sit on the first train from Lisbon as it is the first one.
